A watch that’s been kept in the family, owned by a former Sergent with the California Highway Patrol based at the State Capitol building in Sacramento. It was believed to be first purchased as a gift to him from his wife to mark his 20th anniversary as a policeman. She made ten dollar monthly payments noted in a stamped register for twelve months starting in 1957. He wore it on and off duty for years while taking excellent care of it.
The original four line tropical dial is simply stunning and even more impressive in person, luminescent plots and hands are all original. All four lines of text are intact and legible. The original red triangle insert is also excellent, these are usually well worn from years of wear but thankfully this one has remained well intact. Stainless steel Oyster case is in incredible condition, chamfered edges have remained thick and boldly defined, appears to have remained untouched. Original Brevet Big Crown is present. The 20mm Rolex USA rivet stretch bracelet is excellent, stretches and retracts well, is date coded to first quarter of 1958, and fits an approximate 7.5" wrist size. Caliber 1030 Oyster Perpetual automatic movement is running and functioning. While the watch runs we’re not sure of the last service, and the hands line up a few minutes off from even. A service would be recommended if one intends to wear this "safe queen" treasure.
